Connecticut became the 5th of the 50 United States on January 9, 1788. The state has eight counties and it's capital is Hartford. Connecticut was the first state to ever issue a telephone book in 1878. The book contained only fifty names. It is also home to the first hamburger, Polaroid camera, helicopter, and color television.
